It's a great plane but mine was missing some hardware and the wings are damaged internally, waiting on parts. (Posted on 8/26/2016)

I ordered this to get back into flying after 8 years hiatus. Manual is not very informative and leaves a lot of questions about can you fly it as a two piece wing or should you epoxy the wing halves together. I chose to epoxy wing together and epoxy fuse together with the included bolts. Flies great no bad habits. First flew with DLE 20cc and dual batteries it weighed 14.5 lbs with 6" dubro rubber inflatable tires. Everyone at field impressed with the tundra tires. In a hoover it would slowly sink with 20cc and 16x8 prop. Inverted flight hands off. I did modify the tail and square off the vertical with balsa as well as the rudder and increased their size and improved the looks. Switched engines to a RCGF 40cc twin cylinder 19x8 prop and it hoovers at about 1/4 throttle and vertical climb until in clouds. Let a friend fly it and he lost orientation and hit a tree. I just ordered another to replace it. You cannot find a better value in a gas plane or better flying stick. Order some Power HD LF-13MG servos even for throttle run life batteries and a 30 to 40cc motor for a terrific plane. (Posted on 4/18/2016)

You won't find a better plane to build or fly than this Stik. It flies like an arrow, hovers like a heli, and has room for a smoke system to wow the crowd. I have a fleet of various airplanes from foamies to gas, and the stik is my hands down favorite. Beef up the landing gear mount, and sheet the bottom with some 1/16 ply at least halfway back and check all the joints for places that need more epoxy. I also screwed the firewall to the fuse on each side and along the bottom, using the dubro socket head screws it still looks nice and neat. I'm flying it with an AGM 30cc with a 19x8 prop. This is the second Giant Stik I've bought from Value Hobby, if it wasn't such a great plane you wouldn't see it always going out of stock!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_acDA6997OA (Posted on 8/29/2015)

Overall very pleased with this plane. Fit, finish and hardware are very good especially for this price. Powered mine with a DLE 30 which is indeed overkill, but a ton of fun. Equipped it with Skywriter smoke system using the supplied fuel tank, added a 20oz tank for fuel. Slows down nicely with the flaps and increases the fun factor. Only negative on a gentle landing the landing gear plate ripped off. Easy fix and beefed it up during the repair. Added epoxy to the firewall, wing saddle, and hold down areas. There are 3 of these flying in our club and another 3 being built, quickly became the club plane with custom shark graphics. Big fun! (Posted on 1/5/2015)
Can't Beat it with a Stik Review by Thomas

Shipped and received very quickly. Kit was very complete, quality hardware, easy assembly. Plenty of room for anything you could possibly want to install. 450cc Fuel tank, 380cc smoke oil tank, Sullivan Sky Writer pump, 2 2000 mah 6v packs for RX, 1 2000 mah 6v pack for ign, 1 600 mah 4.8v pack for smoke. All fit nicely with room to spare and the whole thing balanced perfectly, CG is dead on. Using an AGM 30cc with 19x8 prop this will give you almost unlimited vertical. Flaps down and this thing will float, they are not needed on this plane but makes for 3 ft' takeoffs and wows the crowd with creepy slow flyby's. The flaps are cut for downward movement only, to mix with ailerons they need to be notched on the top for upward movement. The landing gear mount is very thin ply and extremely weak. First landing was in tall grass with perfect approach and very slow, gear ripped right out. Rebuilt with 3/8 ply and sheeted the entire bottom with 1/16 ply, now it will take any landing short of a crash. Wing pins that engage the fuse are hollow carbon tubing, mine were coming loose. Ran a 10-32 bolt through each one with some 3/8 ply epoxied inside and now I am confident throwing it around in high g-maneuvers. For the price you can't beat it with a STIK! My favorite plane yet, hands down. (Posted on 12/15/2014)

Order and delivery was uneventful, arrived in about a week. Assembly was straight forward, but the directions are a little "vauge", luckily I don't read them and usually just look at the pictures! I set mine up with a DLE 30 and put my LiFE 1800 and LiFe 1100 in the nose with the ignition and did not need any added weight to balance. (nice!) I also used the TowerPro MG946 servos from VH and they work awesome. The kit is very complete. I used all the supplied hardware and only had to add servo extentions to my list. The directions suggest 18" for the wings but I ended up using some 6" extentions on the flaps and 12" on the ailerons that seems to fit perfect. Not sure what's up with the picture, it shows some funky hinges on the battery hatch and some tiny wheels. Mine had 4" foam wheels and the hatch has a groove for a clean fit. Gear is super sturdy with lots of clearance for a 20" prop if you like, I'm using the suggested 18" prop. The only weak area is the glue joints. As suggested by a previous review, I added lots of epoxy to all the "critical" areas. My landings were all pretty smooth, but still managed to pull the gear block loose after about 50 touch and goes so I added MORE expoxy and it's holding up well now with about 2 gals of gas through the engine and maybe 150 more T & G's. (yes I like landings) I tend to wring out my planes pretty hard, and so far this Stick is holding up very well. Hovers nice, inverted and all the acro you can throw at it, just has such a small elevator that you need a ton of throw. (the max throws per the directions are not enough, I'd double them) The fellas at the field are amazed when I tell them it's a $179 ARF. I think I'm gonna order another for the shelf as this will likely be my "go to" airplane for along time. (Posted on 7/23/2014)

I went electric on this plane without using that ugly motor extension, but I had to put 1/3 scale cub wheels on it, and put 4.5lbs to 5lbs of weight which was 2-6S 8000mAh Lipo's in parallel to get the CG correct that's 16000mAh, I can get over 30 minutes of flying with this setup, it's a nice plane and fly's really sweet, the control horns are really good quality too. Sweet plane BUT Review by BigC

This is a big sweet plane, i rated it as I did for the moment because I am waiting for my replacement wing set that was damaged when I received it, mine came with both wing sides that has internal broken braces, so I contacted support and they said they would send me out a replacement wing set, but it's been a couple weeks now and nothing, so I have not been able to fly the plane yet, once I can I will do another review to give an update on this plane, I put a .60 motor with a 15x8 prop and a CC 100amp HV esc in it, I plane on flying it on 6S, 8S and possibly 10S Lipo's, I will have to put a different size prop on it when running 8 and 10S, I was able to get the CG right without adding that big motor extender by putting 1/3 scale cub tires on it and put 2- 5000mah in parallel in the battery compartment which is nice and roomy, I hope to hear from support about my replacement wing set soon. I have built many, many of ARF's over the years. This is a particularly light model. Built it with a DLE30 and dual battery set up for safety, came in at 11.50 pounds. The lightest 83" plane I have ever flown. Most Stiks don't hover well, this is the exception. With the DLE30 take off to a hover is roughly four feet. The guys at the club said that was just not right for a Stik to fly like that.

Flaps on full and you can creep in at less than walking speed. This plane is an absolute blast, can't say how long it will last as light as it is but for now with about 20 3D flights all seems to be holding up well. I did epoxy all the critical points especially the wing saddle and the firewall, both week points on all the VH Stiks, I have them all. Made an aluminum reinforcing plate to fit with the two wing bolts, another week point.

DLE30 is way too much power but a lot of fun, next one will be with a DLE20 and smaller batteries, will way in at 10.45 lbs.

For the price even with shipping you won't find another one like this. Hope they stay in stock for a while. (Posted on 11/10/2013)
