Ardupilot Mega or "APM" is an open source autopilot system. It allows the user to turn any fixed wing, rotary wing, or multi-rotor vehicle (even boats and cars) into a fully autonomous vehicle, capable of performing a wide range of tasks even programmed GPS missions with waypoints (with the optional GPS module).

APM2.6 is the latest product of this series of autopilot system. Compared with APM2.52, this board does not have on-board compass which needs to be placed as far from power and motor sources as possible to avoid magnetic interference.

APM 2.6 requires a GPS unit with an onboard compass or an external compass module for full autonomy. (Ublox GPS w/ Compass)
