I found another major problem that I fortunately discovered before the madden flight. A very important piece of information on the assembly sheet is very wrong! The location of the C.G. The drawing on the instruction sheet clearly shows the C.G. being measured from the leading edge of the wing, not the wing root, and the measurement to be 95-100 mm. This location would make the model extremely tail heavy and would cause disastrous results on the first flight. From my experience I figured the C.G. to be approximately 65mm from the leading edge and it worked perfectly. The model flies very well balanced with the C.G. at this location.

Good sport plane and trainer. Review by Patrick

Assembly was very easy and the parts all fit up well. I used Gorilla glue throughout as CA just does not have the needed strength (IMHO). Initially balanced per the instructions, and it was tail heavy. Added 1 oz of lead to nose above the battery, and that seemed to work much better. With the flap servos configured, needed to assign L flap to one channel, R flap to another channel via Spektrum DX9 TX and 6-channel RX. I put a Dynam 13 x 6 prop on and this gives much better vertical performance. After initial flights added a HITEC gyro, 7 channel RX, and this combination works well. I initially glued the wing tips with Gorilla glue, but this was not adequate and they came off in flight. Revised the wing tip attachment by using bamboo skewers inserted into the wing ends and the wing tips, and this arrangement has survived some rough landings and aerobatic maneuvers. It is a bit sensitive in pitch, and I plan to try a reduced elevator throw for landing in particular. I get about 10 minutes of flying by allowing at least 1/2 minute between any full-throttle maneuvers. Overall good value and fun to fly. (Posted on 7/25/2017)

Airplane was unboxed with no damage noted, all parts were accounted for. Box was also double boxed for protection. The construction was straight forward, and glues and screw drive came in the parts. Even came with a pilot!
I bought the model because I really liked the scale look, when I got my eyes it, I knew I had to do a little detailing. I painted the cockpit area, didn't look right all orange. I also painted the landing gear, was just bare aluminum, so I made it white. The wheels that came with my kit were yellow? Not sure why, so I disassembled the wheels and painted to white. Now she looks great. Only other change was to add some black striping to match the fuse on the wing tips, this really helps catch the eye.
The entire overall plane is very good looking, and if someone wanted to go all out and repaint to a scale scheme, the canvas is great.
Problems with the build. Rudder control arm and tail wheel control arm were glued in place. Took a lot of time to carefully free up. Airplane is Not designed to come apart easily for transport. I would recommend to leave it built up to get to the field. Triple check C of G and turn airplane upside down for the balance.
For the flights I used 4cell 2200's and got more than 8 mins on the flights will no issue. Used full control throws on the maiden, and was only squirrelly in the pitch axis. With slightly lower throws and a little expo, all future flights went perfect. Flaps had very little effect on the pitch axis, but really slow that big wing down. I set a take off and landing flap position. Plane really has no bad flying characteristics, just keep coordinated withe the rudder like a Cub. Even with the big scale dihedral, you can fly very well controlled in inverted flight.
All in all, I think Dynam did a nice job on the model, the guys at the field really enjoyed checking it out and watching it fly!
I used DX9 transmitter and LemonRX DSMX 6 channel receiver.

The c-188 by Dynam is a plane with a lot of "cool" factor. It builds well and flies great, if you are careful with the CG. Make sure you read the RC Groups forum to get it right. The only thing I can really complain about are the wheels, they both came off on first flight and one wheel shattered. I would suggest replacing them with aftermarket wheels, this will prob. require longer axles (machine screws) than comes with the plane as the stock wheels are very narrow. Just get longer ones and use nylock nuts. I had serious CG issues with mine even tho I put my 4s 3300 batt all the way to the firewall as suggested on RC Groups. It was WAY too nose heavy. Ended up with it about 2 inches aft of firewall. Play with it till it flies the way you like. Once you get CG worked out it flies great. Flaps are fun to play with to see just how slow it can fly. Glad I bought it and definately would recomend it to friends. (Posted on 8/20/2014)
