Great warbird to throw in the trunk and go flying(Posted on January 2, 2014) The 109 came with no visible defects or warps when delivered. Used the supplied glue for assembling the tail, intake and control horns. Using 850mah 3S which fits just snug in the battery cavity. receiver sits between the firewall and the battery. and balanced without landing gear right at the factory recommended distance. only needed a few clicks of elevator and it flew nice and level. Handles winds pretty well with the 3S. Great flyer overall and have a nice presence in the air when doing wide sweeping turns. Only issue with assembling was the z-bend for the rudder was a bit off, and I had to cut it off and redo it to have the rudder straight and not maxing out the clevis threading. |

Challenge to fly, but great price.(Posted on September 15, 2013) Decided to re-review this product after I slandered it out of anger in my last review. The plane was warped out of the box, but didn't have a significant impact on the plane's flight performance. It seems to fly pretty well other than the notorious tip stall that comes with the BF109's design. I've been able to get 5 flights out of it after gluing it all back together. She sure can take a beating, the EPO is very strong. The biggest down-side to this plane is the landing gear. Make sure if you buy this plane to bend the landing gear out towards the tips of the wings to help give it a little more wheelbase to travel on. This will make takes off's and landing easier and less bouncy when traveling on an asphalt surface. The motor has a lot of power, but not a lot of speed. The model can also handle a decent amount of wind, but because of the airspeed required to fly this model without stalling, flying with a tail wind can be dangerous. Landings have to be done at a pretty high speed unless you decided to custom install some flaps, which would help dramatically with landing this plane. Make sure you have a lot of extra runway to slow this plane down as it is pretty heavy and carries a lot of inertia. I fly this plane with an E-Flite 1300 mAh 2s battery and get 10 minutes maximum flight time, which uses up about 900mAh with proper throttle control. You can cruise this plane around at half power, but all maneuvers should be performed with closer to %90 power to avoid stalling in turns. The rudder is also very crucial in making scale turns. Overall, this plane is fun to fly and certainly a challenge. It is going to take some time for me to master landing the plane and mastering take off's took a long time. (Spent lots of time getting it up to speed and keeping it straight without taking off.) |

Flies like a ME-109 should(Posted on August 27, 2013) When I purchased this plane it took me a minute to dial it in. Some foam removal in the nose to accommodate an 800 MAh 3s slightly front of the CG. Do not put the Lipo where they tell you in the wing pocket over the CG this is too tail heavy. I love this plane It flies like an ME-109 with thin wings should. FAST and on rails. It does not like slow turns use speed and rudder. when coming in to land keep wings level and use rudder with slight power and gentle glide slope. I have buried the nose more than 3 times learning this plane so it is NOT for a beginner or even some intermediate. It is durable with some good care and the right kind of glue for those breaks. A good plane :) |

Good scale details, Not worth buying to fly.(Posted on August 3, 2013) Plane fuselage was warped out of the box. The tail section was twisted, which caused the plane to roll more than I could trim out. It doesn't handle well on the ground making it a challenge to take off. Never got it flying for more than a minute, spending that entire minute fighting both the fuselage causing roll and torque roll. This plane was terrible to fly, both the wings broke off on a crash landing, no way to repair the plane other than gluing it. Hopefully I can get it to flying condition. Really wish I just bought the T28 instead. Heard she's the best of the 800's, plus the tricycle gear make it easy to take off and land. |
