Love it and one of my fav's(Posted on June 16, 2017) I really like my Sky Surfer and laminated it with nuecover laminate right here from Value Hobby. I've had two of these now and the only downside is having to glue the two fuse halfs together. I have mine running on 4s with a emax red bottom on a 5050 tri blade. These are a bit tricky to launch sometimes so throw it high and hard with lost of throttle. They can run large batteries as well but just move it aft a bit. Not unlimited vertical on 3s nor 4s exactly. Will loop and roll just fine with no flexing at high speed. Great plane and add some travel in the rudder as it's not large enough then it will be active. |

A real bargain glider(Posted on June 13, 2017) The X-UAV glider is a great bargain that is simple to put together and if the CG is followed a great flier! It did have some surface irregularity that showed up when painted, but the glider flew well in it's maiden flight. The glider was powered by a 1700 kv blue wonder motor with a 2200 lipo and a 30 amp ESC turning a 6X5 APC prop. Tower Pro 9 gram servos were used for the rudder and elevator on maximum throw settings. The glide was very good even with the 2200 lipo but would be better with a 1500 or 1300 lipo as the glider was a little heavy with the high battery weight. Stability was great and the price was a real bargain. I did not use this plane as an FPV craft but it could be used easily as an FPV model. Thank you Value Hobby for this super deal on this glider! Excellent airplane(Posted on August 13, 2014) My first FPV plane. Spent some time with components, figuring out layout; everything fits with ease. The flat-bottomed battery bay enables using some very large batteries. Switched stock prop with a 6x5 3-bladed APC with a 28-36 1500kv motor. Plane flies beautifully on 3s 2P 2200mAh batts, balances easily with camera and VTx mounted in place of canopy. Decently stable in mild winds, glides about forever with power off. Excellent plane for any use but works very, very well with FPV apps. |

Very nice for UAV(Posted on May 30, 2014) I built this for a UAV using an APM 2.6. I recommend a 8 x 4.7 prop with a 800 kV motor for this application. I get 60 minute flights with 2x2200 mAh batteries in parallel. I have owned a couple Bixler 1.1s, but what I like better about this kit is the hardware and the layout. It is much better suited for a UAV. The Bixler doesn't have enough flat surface area on the bottom for mounting the APM and batteries. This plane would make a great trainer, and has a lot of performance as well. |
