I have been into RC cars for over 20 years. This is my first plane. I've flown a bit in flight simulators so I have a (slight) idea how to fly. The plane looks very realistic, the electronics seem like they are antiquate quality especially for the price. I bought this plane because it is a high wing, big, and slow; so it *should* be easy to fly. I have yet to have a successful flight over say 30 seconds. I'm sure its a combination of my lack of skills and lack of adjustments in the controller (like dual rates or exponential so I end up over correcting). But this just seems like it is too hard to fly for a beginner. It has almost no stability IMO. Adjusting trims for example, you can eyeball them on the ground but once its in the air you can't let go of the controls for even a slight second to adjust trims. I would expect a beginner plane to be able to glide on its own at least a little bit. I think that is my major concern. I take off and I have no ability to get it dialed in. Like I said I'm sure some (most) of the blame is my lack of skills. But I have been around RC for a very long time and I'm familiar with the basics. I'm not saying its a bad plane, I'm just saying it is too hard for a beginner to fly. I have had it about 3 weeks and its to the point where it is no longer repairable (it would be cheaper to buy a new kit version, and reuse the electronics). I think I'm going to try a powered glider next time. Maybe it will glide a little bit while I adjust it. Also a side note; it comes with instructions for assembly but no instructions on how to calibrate the speed controller.
