Sweet looker in the air.(Posted on July 12, 2014) Takes off and lands with no surprises, and is amazingly nimble in it's maneuvers. Aileron rolls are quite quick on high rates, and a couple degrees of down thrust is needed to keep her from climbing on full throttle. Check your C.G. as it is critical, as always. Too bad a real R-3 was never built because to see a full scale fantasy racer at the air shows would be almost as breathtaking as Delmar in his R-2 tearing up the skies! |

May be the best value plane in this size(Posted on June 26, 2014) This plane is a lot of plane for the money. I fly on rough grass fields and the 4" wheels and gear set handles the terrain well. The foam finish is second to none. Stock setup is average in speed but not fast. Assembly is easy despite poor photos. Did not put the wires on for fear of getting tangled in everything in the car. Even the hard to impress guys at the field turned their heads to look at this one. Even caught one of them looking it up on his phone! Flies differently in turns, and seems to need a little extra runway until you get used to landing it. |

The best value on the market for that large of a foamie(Posted on May 22, 2014) Super Quick Delivery. I've had several of the Starmax Geebee R3. I'm primarily a warbird flyer but this plane is pure fun and looks great. I've repainted several, and have had added larger motors and up to 8 cells. The fuselage is huge and has plenty of space for almost anything you can think of if you want to get daring. The landing gear struts are super sturdy. I've never had a problem after hundreds of flights. Fly off of grass and it has never flipped on landing. Can't say enough about the plane and the support of from Value Hobby. (and as for the the wing springs, mentioned in another review, I've added a drop of glue stick to each connection to the wing. Have not had a problem since.) |

A definite keeper!(Posted on July 28, 2013) I was thrilled at how easy this plane takes off and lands. The banks/turns are so different than other planes...almost scary! If you want a turn without the knifes edge look you definitely need to use rudder. Otherwise, it'll take up a lot of airspace to get back around. It's actually very cool looking! Thanks to Racer X for his review/notes. I wondered what other power set-up would work to make it more speedy. Don't get me wrong, it's not actually slow, npbit it's not a racer in its current configuration. But who's racing anyway? Racer X- curious though. Which set-up did you actually use? Our mentioned two different ones in two separate reviews. Power 32 or Power 25? And were they a perfect fit, or was modification necessary? Keep in mind when ordering this plane that there are no parts available. I've looked everywhere! Value Hobby only carries the prop. Not sure why Starmax doesn't make them available, or why VH doesn't stock any. |

Good Airframe(Posted on July 18, 2013) Dump the power Set Go with a Power 32 and 100amp esc 5 Cell 3300 11x7 Prop |
|
For an awesome GB...do this:(Posted on July 17, 2013) *Dump Motor and Esc - Replace with Power 25 E-flite and 60 amp esc * 5 Cell 3300 - 11x7 APC E *Must Add - "UP" thrust on motor mount, otherwise dives under load- takes quite a bit maybe 15% positive *Disregard Manual CG....it is WAY too far back and makes the plane plow. Use 80mm from LE *Make sure Wheel Pants are square - Really crabs if not straight *Cut cooling holes in cowl for motor and battery cover for esc & Lipo Do this an you'll love it. Unlimited Vertical - Very Fast, the way a Racer should be. |

Good value-the motor and ESC and servos worth the cost.(Posted on February 22, 2013) Overall a gorgeous looking aircraft in the sky, has a real vintage look and seems pretty sturdy. Probably a little slow for the Air Race fans, but takes off and lands very predictably. Has big 4" wheels and loves grass fields and the only drawback to the build was the assembly manual itself-couple pics didn't match the directions printed underneath. Great deal anyway! |

About this plane(Posted on February 19, 2013) First thing it's a good looking and good flying plane, the only bad thing that I found is that the wires and springs that come with it to make it look scale does fit correctly and break off, and I would also like to see it have a pilot come with it, other than that it's sweet. I fly it with a 4400mAh with no problems. It takes a 13x8 prop, get a spare just in case. |

Great Plane!(Posted on February 17, 2013) I highly recommend this is a very nice plane - especially for the price. It's very easy to fly. Takes off and lands easily, aerobics without any problem, and can be flown slowly without any negative tendencies. Instructions were clear and assembly was quick and easy. Using 4S 3300 mah batteries and found the cg was best at the 85-90 mm range rather than the 108 specified in the user manual. A few guys reported the same on the RCGroups forum. |
